The iSpyPen Pro is intentionally designed to record continuously in 5 minute file increments to preserve the integrity of your recordings, promote easier file sharing, and support functional mobile playback. If you are wondering why files are broken into individual clips, we explain below and also provide tools to merge these clips together. 

The iSpyPen Pro will record continuously after initiating a recording until the user stops recording or the battery dies.

This continuous recording will be broken into 5 minute segments, such that if you play the segments after each other there is no lost footage.

We strive to help make sure our customers don’t lose recordings on their iSpyPen Pro. As is the case with all Digital Video Recording (DVRs) devices, video files can become corrupted and unrecoverable. This is why we introduced File Integrity Preservation, which increases the likelihood of preserving your video recording, in the event that a file becomes corrupt. This is achieved by breaking your video recordings into 5 minute increments.

 

This means that in the event that a file on your device becomes corrupted, the impact should be minimized 5 minutes of recording time should be impacted as opposed to the entire duration of your session.

This makes for easier file sharing by keeping file sizes small. This supports mobile playback because many mobile devices struggle to retrieve large files from external memory.

Generally, files under 200MB are most conducive to sharing and mobile playback.

Fortunately, there are many tools available to accomplish your goal of having a single file. We recommend any of the following free tools to combine files together after recording:
